Follow Up to the Duke Story

The ACC admitted its error yesterday

The league acknowledges that a timing error was made in not starting the game clock at the correct time," said Clougherty, adding the situation was resolved internally but did not elaborate.

What's left unsaid is that "resolved internally" means the officials were given a raise and assigned to every Duke game in the future. Clemson doesn't get an apology, but they are rumored to have received a Dick Vitale motivational video.

We are still waiting on the Vitale video it is "in the mail" we are told.

Handled "internally" means we were told that the refs were sorry for making such a blatantly biased mistake and will try to make a greater quantity of subtle calls next time.

We were also told that if Duke at any time has a lead we are not to attempt a comeback. They told us this was a "man law" and that such an attempt was merely a "bad form" attempt at publicity and notariety among the "tv guys" Coach K referenced in his comment.
