GEAUX TIGERS!

Well, after starring in a fairly embarrassing sex scandal, the LSU Lady Tigers got down to the business of kicking the crap out of the rest of the college basketball world. Last night, LSU earned their fourth straight trip to the Final Four by administering a 73-50 beat down to UConn. Sylvia Fowles led the way with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 blocks. Then after the game, she rescued a child from a burning building, built a perpetual motion machine, and cured cancer.

Some Sylvia Fowles fatcs, stolen liberally from chucknorrisfact.com:

- The chief export of Sylvia Fowles is Pain.
- When the Boogeyman goes to sleep every night, he checks his closet for Sylvia Fowles.
- Outer space exists because it's afraid to be on the same planet with Sylvia Fowles.
- Sylvia Fowles counted to infinity - twice.
- When Sylvia Fowles does a pushup, she isn’t lifting herself up, she’s pushing the Earth down.
- Sylvia Fowles’ hand is the only hand that can beat a Royal Flush.
- Sylvia Fowles can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.
- Sylvia Fowles can slam a revolving door.
- Remember the Soviet Union? They decided to quit after Sylvia Fowles was born.
- Even Chuck Norris is afraid of Sylvia Fowles.

Women's hoops actually is pretty good. Is it the same level as men's hoops? No. It's not. Anyone who argues that it is, is either delusional or lying. But it is by far the most competitive women's team sport and it has really grown in both popularity and quality in the last decade.

And in general popularity, women's basketball is probably the fourth most popular college sport (behind football, men's BB, and baseball -- and baseball is debatable). So its not like this is an obscure sport.

That said, you put LSU jerseys on a tiddlywinks team, I'd watch it. And I'd still try and punch out an Auburn fan over women's hoops.

As annoying as softball is and the players' incessant chants, I would prefer watching women's softball. At least then you have Jennie Finch to look at (see www.jenniefinch.net). As I have stated many times, my favorite team to watch is the Arizona Wildcats...any red-blooded male would understand.
